Padstow: Old Ship

Mill Square, Padstow, Cornwall, PL28 8AE. Tel: 01841 532357

The Old Ship in Padstow, or should I say Padstein as it is known, is a great pub. It has a lovely big covered area right on the main street where you can watch all the hundreds of Rick Stein fans wander about eating their chips and pasties. We didn’t eat here (see below) but the fresh local seafood looked amazing.

Dogs are welcome inside too, we had a lovely couple of drinks here before heading down to the harbour to eat our chips and pasties!

Polperro: Blue Peter Inn

Quay Road, Polperro, PL13. Tel: 01503 272743

The sign says ‘Dogs invited with big spending owners’. What a lovely pub, as soon as we sat down Bailie got a biscuit, a bowl of water and a big fuss. It’s a traditional Cornish pub with low ceilings and dark corners you can hide away in drinking local scrumpy and eating local seafood, which is exactly what we did. Bailie even made a new friend, Henry the Labradoodle, they got on famously while we all sat and chatted the afternoon away. Polperro is a beautiful little fishing port, there’s quite a walk

As we got to the pub door we decided to stick our head in to find out if we could take Bailie in. A local muttered something under his breath, I looked over and asked him what he said (just to point out, I’m not at all confrontational, at the mere sniff of a fight you’ll find me under the duvet, but
