Midlothian: Dalkeith Country Park

We love our loyal four-legged friends here at Dalkeith Country Park and welcome them (and of course their owners!) to explore this gorgeous park. You’ll find a range of beautiful walking trails and some of the most stunning scenery in Midlothian.
Note: Dogs are not allowed in Restoration Yard or Fort Douglas and are to be kept on a lead in the Palace Field area until across Montagu Bridge.

This is a fantastic place to walk dogs. True they do not allow dogs into the cafes or shop but having spoken to the management, I’ve been told there is a discussion ongoing the remedy this. Hopefully things will improve.
In the meantime it remains my dogs favourite walk.
This is indeed a great park for dog walking, however there are not enough bins for poo.
Also, if you are on your own with your fur babies, there is no facility to have a cuppa and cake due to there being no outside table service..
There are only two trails there where you can let your dogs off the lead too.
I do like it there and so do my gurrls but take supplies like snack and drinks with you as you can’t get anything in there.
